Rachel Brent

Upon graduating from Brooklyn Law School Rachel continued her fellowship with the New York City Law Department, in tort litigation, litigation in such cases as false arrest, trip-and-fall, slip-and-fall, and negligent supervision. Rachel negotiated discovery and court deadlines with opposing counsel and drafted court filings such as motions for summary judgment, discovery demands, and conference orders, as well as, conducted depositions both defended city witnesses and deposed plaintiffs.

After the conclusion of her fellowship, Rachel served as the Assistant Law Clerk to the Honorable Devin P. Cohen in Kings County Supreme Court. There, she evaluated court filings such as motion papers, ex parte applications, and proposed judgments. She drafted bench memos on fully briefed motions and drafted both short form and long form orders for the Judge to review. She coordinated motion calendars and conferred with counsel to resolve procedural disputes. Rachel also drafted opening and closing jury charges and verdicts sheets for trials. Rachel was also responsible for developing and executing strategies for handling virtual court appearances during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Then Rachel expanded her litigation focus and worked as a litigation associate, where she focused on litigating medical malpractice cases on behalf of plaintiffs. There Rachel handled all aspects of her caseload from inception through jury trials, including any settlement negotiations.

Currently, Rachel is a Senior Associate at the Bell Law Group, PLLC where she focuses on personal injury litigation and continues to work on medical malpractice cases. Rachel is licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
